Organisation

Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board is the body with responsibility for education and training, youth work and a range of other statutory functions across both counties. LWETB manages and operates 8 second-level schools with 3300 students,  10 further education and training colleges with over 12000 learners, and a range of adult and further education centres delivering education and training programmes, LWETB has a staff of over 900 and operates on a budget of 54 million

Further Education and Training

LWETB’s Further Education and Training Division delivers courses to over 9000 learners each year and has responsibility for 10 Further Education and Training Centres across the region. It works with community groups across locations in Longford and Westmeath and is also responsible for the management of Post Leaving Cert (PLC) provision. Further education and training courses are for learners who want to return to education and training in order to enhance their opportunity for employment, progress to further studies or develop new skills, and want to become more involved in their communities.

LWETB provide high quality, inclusive, student centred educational services through its 8 multi-denominational, co-educational post-primary schools across counties Longford and Westmeath. In line with our Mission Statement, our committed and highly qualified teaching staff offer a wide range of programmes that are dynamic, diverse and innovative enabling young people to reach their full potential. LWETB believe that every student in its care deserves a positive educational experience in school. To achieve this, LWETB support schools through the development of systems by the establishment of Student Councils, SEN support, provision of high quality ICT infrastructure, quality learning spaces, collaboration with parents and strong links with stakeholders. 

 

LWETB’s Corporate Services division is an internal support service managing resources for the achievement of the Organisation’s strategies, ensuring compliance with a number of governance obligations and improving corporate policies, procedures and outcomes. Other Services

Along with the LWETB’s schools and Further Education centres, are a range of other services, projects and schemes that contribute to the region’s education sector. LWETB’s Youth Services Unit provides a framework that supports the development of a wide range of initiatives for the young people of Longford and Westmeath, with over 42 youth clubs, 364 adult learners and 1,405 members. Meanwhile, our Music Generation Programme gives young people access to vocal and instrument tuition in their own locality. Click on the area of interest to you from the slider box to the right.
