Athlone VTOS Annual Day Trip

Athlone VTOS recently went on a well-deserved Annual trip after all the stress and hard work of the QQI Level 5 assessments. All students and staff worked really hard in the three areas offered at Athlone VTOS – Business, Art & Craft and Software Development.

We visited Carrick on Shannon firstly where we went to see the Art exhibitions at the Carrick on Shannon Arts centre. The Art and Craft students were particularly interested in seeing what was on show since we recently held an end of term art exhibition in Garrycastle Training Centre to showcase the great talents of the Art students! Our exhibition went very well and the art students and their tutor were showered with well-deserved compliments! They enjoyed the Arts centre and felt a shared experience as they had exhibited their work too!

We then visited the Arigna mines in North Roscommon where we were treated to a very informative tour which gave the history of the area – as well as the story of the Arigna mines. We had a very interesting and lively tour guide and the students interacted really well with him asking many questions and thoroughly enjoying the day.

It was a varied and thought-provoking day giving the students and tutors a chance to unwind and to learn more about such interesting places!
