Last week Education and Training Boards across Ireland celebrated 10 years since they were established in 2013. The week culminated in ‘ETB Day’ on Thursday 2nd March 2023 with festivities held in Croke Park and hosted by RTÉ newsreader and former ETB student, Ray Kennedy. This great event celebrated all that is good about our sector and the positive impact our services have on the people we serve in our communities.

As part of the weeks activities,  ETBI initiated and led a number of cross-sectoral competitions under various categories with entries invited from FET, Schools, OSD and Youth Services. I am very proud that LWETB were nominated in three categories. These were:

Staff Video – Longford College of Further Education, Templemichael.

Excellence in Education – Mullingar Community College, Mullingar.

Excellence in Youth Services Award – ACT Gateway Youth Project, Athlone.

LWETB won in two categories! The winners were:

Excellence in Education – Mullingar Community College, Mullingar.

Excellence in Youth Services Award – ACT Gateway Youth Project, Athlone.

As if that wasn’t enough, our Well-being Committee in collaboration with FET Mullingar also won a prize in the photo competition for the Mad Hatters Tea Party….fantastic results all round!!
