Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board (LWETB) Announces Transition of Leadership: Outgoing Board Members Complete Their Term, Welcoming the New Board for 2024-2029

Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board (LWETB) proudly announces the successful completion of the 2019-2024 term by its outgoing Board and the appointment of a new Board for the term 2024-2029. This transition marks a continued commitment to excellence in education and training services across the Longford and Westmeath regions.

LWETB extends its deepest gratitude to the outgoing Board members for their unwavering dedication and strategic leadership over the past five years. Under their stewardship, LWETB has navigated numerous challenges and embraced significant opportunities, ensuring the delivery of quality education and training services to communities across both counties.

The transition marks an important time for LWETB as Chief Executive Liz Lavery announced she would retire in early October 2024. Liz has been a pivotal leader, helping LWETB achieve numerous goals over the years. Her dedication and strong leadership has left a lasting impact on the organisation and the communities it serves. The Board and staff of LWETB expressed deep gratitude to Liz, wishing her all the best in her well-deserved retirement. Following her departure, Brian Higgins was announced as the Chief Executive (Acting), stepping in to lead the organisation through this period of change.
