Arnav Kothari, a student from Athlone Community College, was awarded the Ericsson ‘Computer Science Student of the Year’ award, an accolade which acknowledges students who wish to pursue a career in Computer Science.
Overall three students were recognised for showing commitment to digital learning and their outstanding performance and passion for the subject. Each student will now have the opportunity to complete a month-long internship at Ericsson in Athlone this summer, gaining hands-on experience at one of the world’s leading software development companies.
Sinéad Pillion, Head of Programme and Operations at the Ericsson Athlone site, warmly welcomed the students to the software campus this month, congratulating them on their achievements and wishing them continued success in their studies and future careers.
The award forms part of Ericsson’s INFUSE (Investing in Future Software Engineers) programme, which supports schools across the Midlands by encouraging interest in technology and offering real-world opportunities to students.
The INFUSE initiative aims to promote Computer Science and technology as enjoyable and rewarding pathways to future careers. This award not only recognises academic achievement but also highlights the vital role local schools are playing in equipping students with the skills and confidence to pursue careers in the ever-evolving tech sector.
